FEAR

Updated: May 17, 2022

Do you notice how big this word “FEAR” looks compared to the script as I’m writing this blog? It’s huge! I’ve heard people say FEAR means False Evidence Appearing Real. Think about it. False means “not true or correct; erroneous: a false statement.” The word Evidence has a definition: “that which tends to prove or disprove something; ground for belief, proof.” Appearing: “come into sight; become visible.” Real means true, not merely ostensible, nominal, or apparent” (Dictionary.com).

Right now, many people are feeling much fear because of what is going on in the world. You may ask, “Why am I so fearful right now? Hasn’t God taken care of me this far?” That’s right. He hasn’t dropped you. You are still breathing, and it is never too late so long as you can see your breath on a mirror.

Women and men in prison are feeling a lot of fear because there are no volunteers allowed at this time to come to the prison and jail and help them deal with their feelings about the situation. They watch the news (don’t get me started on the news!).

Many of the men and women don’t know how to separate reality from sensationalism. Many tend to believe the last thing that they heard. You may ask, “What can I do about it?” Do you know an at-risk man or woman who is incarcerated? If you do, we can help you contact them through email or by writing them a letter. They would love to hear from people other than the prisoners or prison/jail staff they speak to on a daily basis.

Remember it is written: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT). That doesn’t mean we won’t feel fear, but we don’t have to let it take us over and trick us into believing that there is no hope and God is not on the throne. He is and He is in control. He didn’t cause this virus, it is written: “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10 NLT). Satan is the thief; God came to give life. FEAR = Lie, God =Truth. It’s that simple.
